A.L. Standlee will be receiving her diploma in May of 2016 from Southern New Hampshire University. Where she will leave with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing with a concentration in Fiction Writing and a minor in Psychology. Standlee has a back ground in owning a successful heating and air conditioning business, with her high school sweet heart and husband of over 14 years. Asides from business experience Standlee has also spent time being a nurse, high school janitor, hotel housekeeper and is diverse in teaching- consisting of tutoring, special needs children and full time home schooling of her four children. Her children too share a love for writing. She has spent several years coaching youth sports teams, being an un paid taxi to her kids and their friends as well as their personal chief and maid for the sake of keeping the house somewhat presentable. All of which give her a diverse background she uses to create colorful characters that can relate to any reader.

Her writing started in childhood when she first learned how to structure a paper and where her love for written expression started. She began writing poems and short stories, winning her first, first place for a short story out of the entire school entitled The President and his Sons. Standlee’s desire as an author is to give readers an authentic, honest connection with the characters on the pages by using fantasy, romance, mystery and adventure. Standlee is considered a variety writer where no genre is left off the table, including children books under the pen name J. L. Haley.
